Pioneering a cutting edge, eclectic sound as a record producer, Brooklyn native, The Angel, has been tapped to score a wide range of film and television projects since the mid-nineties. She has brought her unique sensibilities to seminal features such as New Line Cinema's "Boiler Room," and UK cult hit, "KiDULTHOOD," as well as diverse cable and network TV series. Angel has jumped through a myriad of stylistic hoops, with her sophisticated score for drama, action and dramedy series like the Ron Livingston, FOX procedural, "Standoff," Jada Pinkett Smith's TNT medical drama, "HawthoRNe," and director, Ava DuVernay's CBS drama pilot, "For Justice."
Signing to Delicious Vinyl, brought The Angel to Los Angeles from her adopted home in London, where she started blending hip hop, dub, jazz, drum 'n bass and soul into her recordings, including her groundbreaking remixes for The Pharcyde, Blue Note's Donald Byrd and productions for Grammy nominee, Mystic. It was Angel's technical expertise in programming, engineering and mixing that gave her the creative freedom to think outside the box and execute her vision. And it was Angel's sound that was sought out by the producers of Tupac's penultimate feature, "Gridlock'd," which launched her film and TV composing career in 1996.
Since then, film and TV composing has become Angel's main focus, while she has continued to write and produce numerous albums. Featuring vocalists from all genres, Angel has performed and DJ'd at diverse, high profile events, including Coachella, SXSW, The Winter Music Conference, The Montreal Jazz Festival and the 2006 FOX TCA's. Original motion picture score and artist releases from Angel's catalog have been licensed to numerous films and TV shows including "24," "The Wire" and "True Blood."
Angel's passion for crafting music to picture is evident in her nuanced attention to detail, setting each of her film and TV projects apart. Her love for collaborating with filmmakers has also led her to score shorts, documentaries and unique independent features including; “Gaia,” a stunning award-winning full-length feature with a haunting emotional, acoustic score, the PBS Lucha Libre documentary, "Tales of Masked Men," a passion project of director, Carlos Ávila with an eclectic hybrid of piano driven themes and electronic score that takes the viewer way beyond its Mexican roots, a TIFF favorite, "The Heart of The Game," an inspirational all-girl, high school basketball documentary picked up by Miramax at the Toronto Film Festival and the UK youth-driven, modern horror-thriller, “Demons Never Die,” brought to Angel by executive producer, Idris Elba.
Currently based in Los Angeles, The Angel is a member of The Television Academy and SAG-AFTRA.
