Amit May Cohen is a composer from Israel best known for her work on the recent award winning doc, Wrestling Za’atari, as well as Holy City, and for writing additional music for Who Do You Think You Are, Top Chef, and The Real Housewives of New York City, to name a few. Her musical interests and expertise in various styles of music include everything from jazz to rock, to contemporary classical, to ethnic. She received her degree in Film Scoring and Conducting from Berklee College of Music where she assisted Chris Lennertz, Bill Elliot, and Terrance Blanchard. Since moving to Los Angeles, she’s worked with George S. Clinton, written music for the Groove Brothers LLC music library, and orchestrated for Tim Williams, Amie Doherty and more. Amongst the projects Amit has worked on are The Harvest (2013), Rizzoli & Isles, Duck Dynasty, Bloodline, Star Trek – Discovery (2017), and the Pirates of The Caribbean Show Summer Show for Disneyland Japan. While studying at Berklee, Amit was an active member of CanvaSounds, a composers’ collective that featured female composers of the contemporary classical genre. They performed 6 featured concerts in various venues throughout Massachusetts and created unique and artistic music videos that were enjoyed by thousand of viewers. Her string quartet received an honorary mention at the MTNA Eastern Division of 2015. She also took part in writing a new original score for the renowned film Nosferatu, performed to great acclaim by the Boston Pops Orchestra. Amit placed 2ndin the MTNA National Composition Competition with her contemporary piece DzBlack Dawndz, and recently her music for Wrestling Za’atari received nominations for Best Score in Milan IFF and London IFF.
