As a film composer and seasoned musician, Ally Fiola has experience writing in a variety of genres, moods, and for various instrumentation. She has composed scores for documentary, animation, thriller, and horror films. Most recently, Ally completed an intensive 8-week film scoring mentorship under the guidance of veteran composer David Findlay (which was funded by Music Nova Scotia), where she received hands-on experience and opportunities to expand her portfolio. This included film composition technique and orchestration, live recording and sound engineering, working with midi, and music post-production.
Ally went to Dalhousie University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music performance in saxophone as well as a B.Sc in Psychology. In addition to the saxophone, she also plays flute, clarinet, and sings.
Ally is currently working on her first jazz album containing her original music, set to be released in late June 2018.
