While in high school, she studied Conservatoire de Paris composition theories with university professors. Upon entering university, along with learning classical music in depth, she found a passion for jazz. She began playing piano in jazz clubs and concerts in Tokyo, and toured with artists throughout Japan.

Since her arrival in the U.S. on scholarship, Aiko has received several awards, including the BMI Pete Carpenter Fellowship to work with TV/Film composer Mike Post.

She is an alumnus of the prestigious Henry Mancini Institute, whose performance of her original orchestral work “Fire, Tears” is available on Concord records. She also attended the BMI Sundance Institute Composer’s Lab as one of 6 participants, working with some of the most well-respected composers in the film industry, including Thomas Newman, John Adams, and Ed Shearmur.

Aiko believes in the power of music to connect people. Inspired by nature, her unique style blends Eastern and Western influences in a personal and honest way.
